Short version: Reptile Reminders is designed as a local-first app. The app is focused on storing reptile care information on your device. The first version does not use cloud sync, does not include a social feed and does not sell personal data.

1. Who we are

Stormvloed Software develops practical Android apps. Reptile Reminders is an app for reptile keepers who want to keep care reminders, care history, feeder information, documents and photos organised.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Stormvloed Software. “App” refers to Reptile Reminders.

2. Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to:

• the Reptile Reminders Android app;
• the Reptile Reminders pages on this website;
• contact by email or through a website contact form, if available.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to services operated by third parties, such as Google Play. Those services have their own privacy policies and terms.

3. Information stored in the app

Reptile Reminders may allow you to enter or store information such as:

• reptile profile information, such as name, species, morph, sex, date of birth or other profile details;
• care records, such as feeding, cleaning, water, shedding, poop, weight and UVB-related notes;
• health-related notes, such as concerns, vet visits, medication notes, appetite observations or shed issues;
• feeder stock information, such as feeder type, count or status;
• documents, such as purchase proof, CITES or ownership files, vet documents, medication documents and care sheets;
• photos, such as reptile photos, enclosure photos or identification/marking photos;
• reminder settings and local notification preferences.

This information is intended to be stored locally on your device in the first version of the app.

4. Information we collect from the app

The first version of Reptile Reminders is designed as a local-first app and does not require an account. We do not intentionally collect, upload or sell your reptile care information through our own server infrastructure in the MVP version.

If this changes in the future, for example if cloud backup, account login or multi-device sync is added, this Privacy Policy will be updated before such functionality is used.

5. Photos, documents and files

The app may let you add photos and documents to a reptile profile. These files may contain personal data if you choose to include it, for example a purchase receipt, owner information, address details, vet documents or identification details.

You are responsible for deciding which files you add to the app. In the local-first MVP, these files are intended to remain on your device unless you choose to share, export or back them up using device or third-party functionality.

6. Local notifications

Reptile Reminders may use local phone notifications to remind you of care moments. These notifications are generated on your device. The MVP does not rely on server push notifications from Stormvloed Software.

You can manage notification permissions through your Android device settings.

7. Sharing and export features

The app may include features that allow you to create or share summaries, such as a care sheet PDF, a sitter handover or a weekly planner.

When you choose to share or export information, you decide where that information goes. For example, you may choose to send it through email, messaging apps, cloud storage, printing services or other apps installed on your device. Those third-party services are not controlled by Stormvloed Software.

8. Website contact and email

If you contact us by email or through a website contact form, we may process the information you provide, such as your name, email address, message content and any technical information needed to receive and respond to your message.

We use this information to answer your question, process feedback, handle support requests or communicate with testers.

9. Website hosting, logs and cookies

This website may be hosted by a third-party hosting provider. Like most websites, hosting systems may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, visited pages and timestamps in server logs.

If this website uses cookies, analytics, embedded content or contact form plugins, those tools may process additional data. Any optional analytics or marketing cookies should only be used where legally allowed and, where required, after consent.

10. Legal bases for processing

Information stored locally inside the app is primarily controlled by you on your device.

11. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data.

We may share limited information only where necessary, for example with:

• website hosting providers;
• email service providers;
• technical service providers used to operate the website;
• authorities if required by law.

When you download the app through Google Play, Google may process data as an independent service provider or controller under its own policies.

12. Data retention

Information stored locally in the app remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, uninstall the app or remove the data through your device settings, depending on Android behaviour and the app functionality available.

Email or support messages may be kept for as long as necessary to respond, handle follow-up questions, improve the app, document decisions or comply with legal obligations. We aim not to keep correspondence longer than reasonably necessary.

13. Security

We aim to use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information we process. However, no system is completely secure.

Because the MVP is local-first, you should also protect your own device with appropriate security measures, such as device lock, operating system updates and careful handling of shared or exported files.

14. Children

Reptile Reminders is not designed as a children’s app and is not directed at children. The app is intended for reptile keepers and people responsible for reptile care.

Do not use the app to store unnecessary personal data about children.

15. Health information and veterinary disclaimer

The health section in Reptile Reminders is intended as a structured care history. The app does not diagnose medical problems, does not replace veterinary advice and should not be used as the sole basis for health decisions.

If you are concerned about an animal’s health, contact a qualified veterinarian.

16. International users

Stormvloed Software is based in the Netherlands. If you contact us or use this website from another country, your information may be processed in the Netherlands or by service providers in other countries, depending on the services used.

17. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability.

For information stored locally in the app, you can usually manage or delete that information directly in the app, by deleting app data, or by uninstalling the app, depending on the available functionality and Android settings.

18. Complaints

If you are in the European Union and believe that your personal data is not handled properly, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, website, legal requirements or data practices change. The updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
